33 Life Lessons to Remind Myself
1. Zack is absolutely the best/strongest person I know. You NEED him even though he deserves much better than you. You constantly let him down. Start changing your pace and put him first or he may not stick around.
2. Boys need wrestling, hugs and food.
3. Cuts can heal and turn to scars. Scars are good reminders of life lessons, but don't dwell on them. The deepest valleys can turn to mountains eventually.
4. Everyone yearns for love and kindness. Be kinder than you feel.
5. This phase of life is hard but love the little memories that come with it.
6. Stay...Even if it's just for l second longer.
7. Your body is incredible. It's okay to give it a break now and then. It doesn't always have to be all or nothing.
8. Nature solves problems and depression. Get outside more and take the kids. It'll be okay.
9. It's hard to admit but family and friends are important. Start reaching out and treating them better.
10. Don't let the bad memories outshine the tiny incredible ones. It's easier to think of the negatives but feels a million times better to focus on the positive ones.
11. Get back into hobbies you once loved. You need them. They don't have to be absolutely perfect, as long as you enjoy them.
12. The medical field wasn't the only life path. Even though your path changed, it's still been a remarkable journey. You can still love the knowledge and information, but try new directions.
13. Dogs solve all of life's problems. They are great at getting people out for exercise, cleaning up under the high chair, increasing oxytocin while cuddling, looking naturally cute.
14. You're finally more confident in your nose, ears and stomach. Keep working hard.
15. Cooking can be enjoyable...if it's Mexican food.
16. Your skin has more wrinkles, less elasticity and your boobs are flat but you're lucky that you've had the opportunity to age in this life. Many lives have been taken too early. Don't stress the lines. They can tell stories and show your character. Wrinkles are better than looking old and plastic.
17. Muscles on women are beautiful.
18. Shoes complete any outfit. Keep giving into that weakness.
19. Money will always make things a bit easier, but it's not the most important and only thing for survival.
20. Don't be ashamed to be the only one at the parties that is always eating. You know how to enjoy the moment.
21. Cookies... When in doubt, always cookies.
22. Memes and technology is cool but sex is waaaay better. Keep saying yes, because sex with Zack is FIRE. :)
23. Get better at scripture study. It's a communication that is waiting to be heard. Even boring things can become exciting if you work hard enough.
24. The boys are little and naturally make mistakes. Don't take it so personally.
25. Stop being so calculated and expecting others to also be. Let them live their own lives without judgement.
26. Remember smiling and laughing? Start finding reasons to do it again.
27. Your humor is different but not bad. Not everyone is going to understand you and that is perfectly fine. It's also okay to be goofy. Hope that the boys inherit some of yours and Zack's humor.
28. Bird with their big bodies and swig legs will always be hysterical. The way they run and hop seems to defy the laws of physics. haha
29. Cleaning comes second. Intentional moments with loved ones and the memories that can come from mess should always come first. I know cleaning makes for organized headspace and peace but don't forget there is life outside of a Clorox wipe.
30. You've messed up a lot and always try to fix everything. Stop trying to always fix things and just let them go.
31. Focus on what's important and in front of you. Like your favorite quote says: "Don't lose a diamond while chasing glitter." You have some pretty amazing diamonds. Sort out what they are right now.
32. You're a collector of unique people. What are you learning from each of them?
33. Farts will always be funny.
3 Positive Memories:
1. Cooper tucking his dinosaur into bed and kissing him goodnight. You've been told constantly that it'll be impossible for him to know what love is and show it. He is defying all odds and consistently breaking barriers. Trust him better. He's constantly paying attention.
2. Telling Max to find his Binx (pacifier). He stands on the mantle, hunches over with one hand on his hip and the other hand on his face with his pointer finger tapping his chin. He has on a concerned face and is pretending to look around the living room while stepping slowly.
3. On Zack's drive to Atlanta, he stopped and found every variation of wild flower that he could find. He brought them home to surprise me but they were all wilted. It was such a cute and ooey-gooey romantic thing to do. We revived them a bit with cold water and then spent the night laying them out and pressing them.
